Audio recording and editing can be an intense process that takes a toll on the ears and the eyes. After a long day at the “day job”, staring at a computer screen isn’t ideal. I do it anyway because I love making music, but I often have to remind myself to take a break. I find myself not wanting to step away from the computer because I think the sound I’m looking for is right around the corner but that often makes my recording and mixing choices less effective because my view of the piece of music is clouded by how tired and frustrated I am when things are going as planned.
Tonight I am putting down the mouse and heading the sink to wash my face and splash with cold water. Probably just 10 minutes away but I think it will give me a fresh look when I return to my Pro Tools session.
Let’s see how this works over the next few months. Maybe I have been my own worst enemy in my music career.
