I recently launched a new Christmas song titled “Take Me on a Sleigh Ride”. I monitored the stats on both Spotify and Pandora Radio, and the results are surprising.

I spent most of my time promoting my music on Spotify, it seems Spotify is the number one place that can make or break an artist’s career in the music business. After this side-by-side comparison of the two streaming services, I’m going to be spending most of my time promoting on Pandora radio because they allow much more opportunity for Independent Artists. If you take a look at the side by side comparison of Spotify and Pandora Radio you can see that Pandora has sent my song out to more listeners than Spotify allowing the service to gather more accurate data on how the song is performing. Having it out in front of the listeners allows more information for the algorithm to either stop it from playing or to give it more exposure depending on how it’s doing. My track on Spotify is not getting that same exposure that would allow the streaming service determine further actions. My songs perform better on TikTok as well because when you upload a track to TikTok it goes out usually to about a thousand people and then stops. The reason it stopped in my experience is because of the performance on TikTok it engaged enough to get a thousand views but not enough to continue further, which I think is fair. I will continue to update as I monitor the progress of my new song on Pandora radio as compared to how it’s doing on Spotify in the future.
