Being an artist requires some careful planning to maintain a lifestyle that allows growth on a limited budget. I’ve decided to see how many expenses I can reduce in order to better support my music career and lifestyle.
I live alone and often eat breakfast and lunch at work so I wasn’t keeping much food at home in my fridge. I also don’t like to cook just for myself so I usually keep dinner simple. Seeing my fridge run just to keep some apple sauce, a jar of olives and a few other random items is such a waste. I don’t need much space and could easily make due with a small fridge.
I went to Menards and bought a mini fridge that has a very small frozen section at the top. The mini-fridge is uses less energy than the large fridge and seems more appropriate for my situation. This is just the first step in cutting my spending, I’m always looking for ways to make my life more sustainable and be as minimalistic as possible.
I’m looking forward to finding other ways to reduce my spending so I can better serve my music career as a songwriter and artist. Not only will this save on my electric bill it was just a complete waste of energy having such a large fridge for just one person.
