Don’t let the opinions of others affect how you interpret and value your songwriting. The music business is based upon personal preference and not everyone is going to get the energy at the core of your work. It’s also a matter of luck in this business and a touch of who you know. It’s a magic potion that many artists think they need to be successful.
So many people are searching for what they want to do with their life but you as an artist have already found what you love and find fulfilling. This thought is enough for me, it is everything I need to thrive in my writing and also in my life. Instead of searching for an unidentified something, I am doing what I want. Living and creating as I journey through life finding magic in so many things.
Remember, the next time a critic gives a negative review of your music, or a Spotify curator passes over your song again, or someone makes a remark about your music career – just keep doing what you’re doing, those things are there to keep you going and to challenge you.
